The Week That Was

March 24th, 2008 by Don Thorson | located in Conferences/Events, Ribbit Events | trackback

This was and amazing week for Ribbit - public events almost every day. It doesn’t get much better than doing presentations than hearing the enthusiasm of your community, fans and developers. This week had it all - company presentations, press briefings, and the very successful inaugural Ribbit Developer gathering. Here’s a few highlights of what has to be considered our most active week ever.

eComm, 2008. March 12-14 - Ribbit did one of the keynote presentations at eComm, 2008 along with Google and Skype. eComm focuses on the future of communication and it successfully attracted some of the most forward thinking comm people on the planet. Cofounder Crick Waters did a stellar job of presenting the Ribbit Platform to enthusiastic audience and press response.

The “Spring Spawn”, Ribbit Developers Conference, March 16 - We went right from eComm to a big day on Sunday, when we hosted the inaugural Ribbit Spawn—a day-long developer immersion in all things Ribbit—in beautiful Sunnyvale, CA. We packed the house, brought a roomful of talented people up to speed with our platform, and said “WOW!” to the great applications that emerged from the afternoon hands-on session.

You can see what the Spawn looked like on Flickr.
By the way, we’d love you to join our new RibbitVoice group while you’re there.

The best part of the Spawn is what “Spawners” did once they got home. Thanks to Nate D’Amico for his great post. And to Todd Geist for the awesome work he did building and showcasing this app in this video. (Todd says he has a voicemail app in the works; stay tuned!)

Mashup Camp and Mashup U, March 17-20. The day after “The Spawn”, Ribbit’s Charles Freedman headed straight to Mashup Camp where he took a roomful of mashers through the capabilities of the Ribbit API. Feedback from Camp said that we were at the top of the list of presentations , and we packed the tables for the SpeedGeeking sessions throughout the Camp.

Under the Radar, March 20. We rounded out the week by presenting and winning the “Judges Award” in our category at the “Under The Radar” event in Mt.View. The “Under The Radar” event brings together some of the hottest emerging technology companies to showcase their company and product. It was again cofounder Crick Waters doing the honors of presenting Ribbit to the judges and audience.

You can view photos of all these events here and we’d love it if you’d join our new RibbitVoice group while you’re there.

Thank you to all of you who attended any of these events, especially the coders that made it to the first ever Spring Spawn - we’re already thinking about where and when to do the next one.
