We are sure you in the Bay Area are aware of the gas pipe explosion in San Bruno, California on September 9th. What you may not know is that the BT Ribbit Office in Mountain View, CA has three staff members who live in San Bruno, and these colleagues each live within a mile or less of the devastation. We were able to confirm soon after the explosion that all were safe and their homes undamaged, but I am sure you can imagine the disruption that results from such a devastating incident for all the residents.
One of those employees was Tim Potranandana who shot this video on his cell phone as the fire blew just after walking into his home after work. Tim stayed back from the windows for most of this video (got closer around 3:14) as windows in nearby houses were exploding. Fortunately for Tim and the other two employees, Jason Lane and Lise Rubarth, the fire didn’t make it up the hill or affect their neighborhood too drastically.
The explosion rocked the Crestmoor neighborhood, taking the lives of several people and destroying 30+ homes.
The employees of BT Ribbit extend our condolences to the families affected by this tragedy, and in recognition of the impact in this local community in which we operate, and the costs of setting up shelters and other support services, BT is making a $1,500 donation to the Bay Area chapter of the American Red Cross.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
