What a Week!

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007 | located in Inside Ribbit | No Comments »

We evidently captured the imagination of the press and industry with our coming out this week. Ribbit has largely been behind closed doors for about 2 1/2 years, so when we finally rolled it out the the public, we didn’t know what to expect or how it would be received. The response has exceeded our expectations. We’ve had reporters and analysts calling us all week.

We even managed a little coverage on television and radio.

Overall the response to Ribbit has been fantastic, but the best news came to us Thursday as the Ribbit Developer Applications approached 2,000. Developers are central to our model, so this is a really important number for us. We’re counting on the developer community to use our technology to create awesome enterprise and consumer applications. The more developers we have, the more interesting and innovative the products will be. The better the products, the better it is for Ribbit and Ribbit end users,We can’t wait to see what they come up with.

In Other Words

There’s a lot of activity at Ribbit today and a lot of activity on the web. We’re amazed (and really excited) at the level of interest among the press and bloggers about our company. We were pretty sure we were onto something by announcing a new model for developers to be able to create communications solutions, but we didn’t know it would be this hot. We’re loving this!

Check out the Ribbit News page for some of the things they’re saying this morning >

Ribbit - Silicon Valley’s First Phone Company

Monday, December 17th, 2007 | located in Inside Ribbit | 4 Comments »

Today we are introducing Ribbit. Some of you may have already heard of us because we’ve been busy talking to developers and beta customers, but today we are telling the rest of the world about Ribbit and what we are doing.

Ribbit was invented because we understand a new world of communication is coming but we didn’t see who was going to create the products and tools to make it a reality. Ribbit is “an open platform for telephony innovation”, meaning we are removing the barriers that have kept telephony from evolving. It seemed inconceivable to us that the internet has almost completely changed communication, but for the most part, a phone is still just a phone, and it’s still living in its own “walled - off” world. So, we’ve decided to shake things up. We’ve decided to give developers the tools they need to turn the world of communication on it’s head.

Why does it matter? Simple — The more open the technology, the more communication products we’ll see and the more choices you’ll have. More choices, better products, in less time - changing the way we all stay in touch.

Please give us your name so we can keep you informed as Ribbit evolves and products emerge. If you’re a developer, you’ll want to download the Ribbit API. If you’re a Salesforce.com user you’ll want to check out our Ribbit for Salesforce integration to see what it looks like when voice integrates with business and no matter who you are, you’ll want to check out the AIR iPhone and Chalkboard Phone videos, which will give you an idea of what’s coming from Ribbit and our developers.

Thanks for checking out Ribbit. Tell your friends and come back often. There will soon be a lot more to see.
